Spinus magellanica
A male hooded siskin (Spinus magellanica) taking a bath in a small creek in Maldonado, Uruguay. Hooded siskins are 10 to 14 cm in length. This is a male, and can be easily identified by the black head. Females are duller with a green-brown head, yellow-green breast and sides and a whitish belly. I've also included a link to a timelapse of its bath.
It inhabits woodland, savannas, scrubland, farmland, parks and gardens.
