Egretta tricolor
Beautiful mid-sized Heron with blue feathers as adult on back and wings, but more purplish-pink as immature. Front of neck and chest usually white with streaks of red and blue. Red eyes, yellow beak and yellow legs. Often seen around other herons and egrets, can sometimes be mistaken at first glance with the Green Heron
Spotted at the Rich Grissom Memorial Wetlands in Viera Florida. These birds like to wade in very shallow water and look for small fish and apple snails to eat.

Thank you Maria dB. Fyn I am honored to be nominated and thank all the Rangers and PN members for their continued support of my efforts. Good luck to all nominated this week.
Very nice shot!
Your spotting has been nominated for the Spotting of the Week. The winner will be chosen by the Project Noah Rangers based on a combination of factors including: uniqueness of the shot, status of the organism (for example, rare or endangered), quality of the information provided in the habitat and description sections. There is a subjective element, of course; the spotting with the highest number of Ranger votes is chosen. Congratulations on being nominated!
Thanks Ashley, it posed for me and the light was just right. Little credit to me!
Beautiful photo, James! One of my favorite birds :)
