Cool find! This looks like a Carolina Sphinx caterpillar. The Five-spotted Hawk Moth (Tomato Hornworm) has different markings on the side (eight V-shaped marks vs. seven diagonal marks). You can compare here: http://bugguide.net/node/view/5011
