Common Shore Tiger Beetle

Cicindela repanda

Description:

About 12mm in length. Head, pronotum and elytra brown. Head and thorax about the same size. Eyes large and black. Underside of thorax and base of the abdomen hairy. Elytra marked with curvy, cream-colored bands on the lateral margins, the center band extending almost to the midline.

Habitat:

Sunny, unvegetated area on the shore of a marsh.

Notes:

This pair let me get much closer than most tiger beetles. It wasn't until i put my finger in the shot(for scale) that the two separated and scurried away. Spotted along Marsh trail
