Lanceleaf Coreopsis

Coreopsis lanceolata

Description:

Coreopsis lanceolata has eight yellow ray flowers which are lobed at their tips. The disk is around .5 inches across. The disk flowers are yellow displaying some purple as they open. The blossom can be up to 2.5 inches across. The plant grows to approximately 3 feet tall.

Habitat:

A late spring / early summer wildflower that is found in all but eight states in the United States. While it is native to the continental states, it is an introduced species in Hawaii.

Notes:

Found along hiking trail leading to Bridle Falls in Dupont Forest.
