Eastern Screech Owl

Megascops asio

Description:

Eastern Screech Owls are quite common, and can often be found in residential areas, like this one. They are strictly nocturnal, roosting during the day and hunting at night. Although they're name suggests a screeching call, the Eastern Screech Owl makes a whinny-like tremolo sound. It's quite eerie if you hear it yourself

Habitat:

Mixed open woodlands, deciduous forests, marshes, orchards, etc.
