Slimy Sculpin

Cottus cognatus

Description:

Small fish, about 3 inches long. They hide under rocks and shoot out quickly when disturbed. This one was very hard to see against the pebbles and rocks. They have excellent camouflage.

Habitat:

Rocky creek running through the woods.
