Checking Google images, it looks more like lotus corniculatus than sweet clover, as it's more of a ground cover. I didn't see any stalks. Shame, as I was getting all happy that I might have a free source for a useful herb. But apparently cows like it.

Not upright enough for M. officinalis imo. Lotus corniculatus would be my suggestion. But not sure about that either, I find legumes difficult at times =)
