Pseudemys concinna concinna
Large turtle with black and yellow face with a red and black carapace. There were a bunch of these suckers swimming in a huge lake in Outer Banks, N.C. We were feeding them bread, although some big fish would usually swim up and steal the food :) I would love clarification as to the species. River Cooter was my best guess. Could be painted turtle or another sp.? Any turtle experts around here?

Same to you!
Of course :) Enjoy your holidays!
Thanks for your help Ashley ;)
Nope, you're good then. Locations are important! You're correct with P. concinna :)
According to the IUCN Red List, they're found in Northeastern N.C. as well, and that's were i found it: http://www.iucnredlist.org/details/18460...
sorry ashley that was my bad. I spotted it in North Carolina, just updated the spotting. Would you still think p. rubriventris?
Close in looks, but P. concinna isn't found in PA :)
anybody a turtle expert? I am definitely unsure if my species ID is correct, as it was just my best guess.
