Description:

Currently stands approx 10-12in. Grows upright from one stem with fans of leaves branching straight out. Thorny branches.

Habitat:

Base of an evergreen, mostly shade in very compact, rocky soil. Similar to a forest floor.

It may be unwise to guess at such a stage with so little to go on but those leaves look exactly like some of the pictures I have of salmonberry (Rubus spectabilis).
