maybe they sold them as exotic pets and some where set free or escaped

Color depends on the environment it lives the above species of Scolopendra polymorpha is restricted to USA and its not found in india.

the Indian tiger centipede only has a red and black pattern but the spotting above has a yellowish color and a red head
