Boulder raspberry

Rubus deliciosus

Description:

Large (~3-5 cm diameter), 5-petaled white flower on thornless, perennial canes, shrub. Fruit in the wild is seedy and dry, not particularly delicious to humans, so the species name is a bit misleading.

Habitat:

from Wikipedia "...inhabits scrub and rocky slopes...in the Rocky Mountains in Colorado, New Mexico, western Oklahoma (Cimarron County only), and Wyoming."

Notes:

This specimen was found in Rocky Mountain National Park at about the same elevation as aspen growing, but on an open dry slope near the roadside. Note that it is growing next to a boulder. It also is found growing on slopes and roadside in Big Thompson Canyon east of the Park.
