Metallic Wood Borer

Chrysobothris dentipes

Description:

About 3/4" in length. Beautiful beetle. In diffused light, it blends in well with the tree bark... but viewed in the right angle, the feet are metallic blue-green, the eyes are metallic gold, the neck is bronze, etc.

Notes:

I am in awe of how much color is hiding in this beetle. You have to view it at just the right angle in the sun. http://bugguide.net/node/view/383752
