Description:

The plants are like succulents and grow along the ground sending new roots into the ground from anywhere along the stem. The flowers are a couple of inches or so across and may be pink or yellow. They are very common around sand dunes and lagoons. Also known as "Pink Carpet".

Just found this had not been updated- better late than never!

Thanks for your suggestion Lisa, I will look closely at the flowers and compare them tomorrow before confirming it. How about those with yellow flowers, are they a different species? Although these were on a beach we have some of both colours in our garden.

Ice Plant Carpobrotus edulis comes in yellow or pink. I believe this is what you are looking for.
