Water Moccasin

Agkistrodon piscivorus

Slithering on top of the Water Hyacinth in the Bayou at Jean Lafitte National Park. It was a little TOO close for comfort.

Picture taken at 10:30 AM. It was 76 degrees outside at that time and EXTREMELY HUMID!

This is most certainly a non-venomous water snake such as the banded or broad banded water snake.
