Little pied cormorant

Phalacrocorax melanoleucos

Description:

Also known as a shag, the Little Pied Cormorant is black above and white below. The face is dusky and, in adult birds, the white of the underside extends to above the eye.

Habitat:

Open waterways, coast, inland streams, lakes and dams, sometimes sharing perches with black ducks.
