Hyles lineata
Larvae are highly variable but have a green or orange speckled head and anal plate, and yellow or orange horn (often black-tipped or largely blackened).
Often found on plants in the Onagraceae (Evening Primrose Family) and Rosaceae (Rose family).
This caterpillar was feeding on Ozark sundrop plant (aka yellow evening primrose - Oenothera macrocarpa). I added a second spotting of this species because it shows the variability of the larvae. This caterpillar was found 4 days after my first one and looks so much different. Compare it to the first spotting: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/115...
