Coprinopsis lagopus
Emerges from the wood chips as a small closed parasol and opens completely, eventually curling up over itself! a common ink cap that grows in gardens, lawns, and wood chips, it lasts only for hours or maybe a day. It is recognized by its gray cap covered with coarse white veil fibrils, habitat, and tendency for the cap to remain after the gills have deliquesced.
Popped up in our wood chip path along the chicken coop.
