Blue wildebeest

Connochaetes taurinus

Description:

Grey to black colour coat that is easily recognisable especially on the shoulders where you can see several stripes that are formed from this colour difference. The horns protrude sideways and then bend upwards. Their pitch black tail is very distinctive.

Habitat:

Prefer bush veld areas compared to open grassland.

Notes:

A nice and easy way to distinguish between the blue and black wildebeest: the blue wildebeest has a black tail and the black wildebeest has a white tail.
