weevil and mites?

Description:

An unidentified species of weevil (see http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/902... to see that it is a weevil) with several small brown organisms attached, ectoparasites or commensals, probably mites, on its back.

Habitat:

Spotted on Neomarica longifolia in a large semi-urban yard & garden situated next to a disturbed patch of remnant lowland forest.

It's possible that those aren't ectoparasites. They might be phoretic mites, mites that use other insects to transport themselves from place to place. Like riding the bus.
