Turkey Vulture

Description:

Very large black to dark brown bird with a nearly featherless head. This species has a red head and can be seen effortlessly soaring aloft.

Habitat:

Open areas in rural parts of the country, but can be seen on the outskirts of urban areas.

Notes:

These pictures were taken from the car which allowed me to get closer than I otherwise would have. Todays wildlife is very tolerant of slowly moving vehicles.
