Red Fox

Vulpes vulpes

Red foxes are a shade of yellowish red. There is usually a trace of black in the fur of the middle of the back and in the bushy tail, the feet and other side of the tips of the ears are black. The throat, underside of the body and tip of the tail are white.

Spotted on Tamarac NWR near Pine Lake. Red foxes live in a variety of habitats in Minnesota, but prefer semi-open country to forest.

Great spotting. Were you as close as it appears? The fox seems completely unfazed.
