Tiny Tree fern

Pteridophyta

Description:

These are tiny tree ferns growing on a live oak tree in a forest at Ocala National Forest in Florida. I had never seen this type of fern growing on trees before and thought it was quite unique. The scientific name for the generic fern is Pteridophyta. A fern is a member of a group of roughly 12,000 species of vascular plants. Could not identify this fern any further than this.

Habitat:

These tiny tree ferns were growing on several live oak trees in the forest at Ocala National Forest in Florida.
