Description:

Shrub to approx. 12 feet tall. Grows in dry meadows, open woods, or thickets from low to mid elevations. Produces cream colored, foamy looking blooms in mid-summer. The leaves are reddish-tinged in autumn. It is a larval host plant to at least three native butterfly species.
