Sweet Gale

Myrica gale

Description:

Small little shrub with fragrant leaves, a little reminiscent of bay. They had little cones/catkins forming at the center of the branch tips. The stems are woody and the leaves are mostly round with some small teeth at the tips.

Habitat:

Grassy area right above a cliff overlooking the ocean.

Notes:

I had never seen this plant on the island before, and then once I did I saw it again just a week later on a beach.
