Tinder Fungus

Fomes fomentarius

Description:

Either that species, or what wikipedia says is an easily confused species, Phellinus igniarius.

Habitat:

More fungi on trees in the northwoods of Minnesota, at Itasca State Park. May be the same as the last I just posted, but in an interesting thick wedge shape.
