Sad underwing moth

Catocala maestosa

Habitat:

Pecan tree and other similar colored trees in front yard.

Notes:

I think this is a sad underwing moth. Nicely camouflaged on the side of a pecan tree. It flew when the water from my sprinkler hit the tree.

Your guess seems right. I'll tag the spotting to see if anyone else agrees.
