Canada Geese

Branta Canadensis

Description:

Canada Geese are native to arctic and northern temperate zones of North America, but are frequently found at the south end of their breeding range, which includes most of the southeastern shoreline (when they migrate southward for the winter). These geese take off every morning from Yates Mill Pond and go to feed in the NC State University Agricultural fields nearby.

Habitat:

These geese roost overnight on the pond, and leave around 8:30 in the morning. They can frequently be spotted in the agricultural fields surrounding the park.

Notes:

These photos were taken from the Pond Boardwalk at Historic Yates Mill County Park.
