Leaf-Footed Bug

Acanthocephala terminalis

Description:

You may have heard of the folded fang on the underside of leaf-footed bugs and assassin bugs and the like. Here, you can see the fang that runs most of the length of this assassin bug's body. If you want to see a video of it crawling clumsily across a little branch of this sapling (I had trouble keeping it focused) I have one here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W3_7qnOg... The bright antennae tips are more apparent in the video than in the picture.

Habitat:

Found on a sapling that resembled maybe black cherry tree, it was under a big laurel oak. Found near sunset.
