Rhododendron austrinum
This wild azalea was growing in a moist area underneath deciduous trees. It is likely Rhododendron austrinum (Florida flame azalea). But, it could be a hybrid of R. austrinum.
It was growing at Brick Pond Park in North Augusta, SC. The park contains numerous constructed ponds and native plants to South Carolina.
Rhododendron austrinum is also called Florida flame azalea, honeysuckle azalea, Southern yellow azalea, and orange azalea.
