This red shouldered hawk was protecting it's meal from another hawk( pic #4),which could be it's mate.It had it's wings spread out all the time!

initially i thought that it must be preening itself. Until it turned around! The other hawk waited ,hoping to get a bite and then flew off.

Jolly that really is so true. It was really hungry and taking all measures to protect it's catch from being snatched away.Looks like another tactic to secure the prey was to lodge it's claw into it.

Robby ,most of the time the meal was covered. When i had a glimpse , i saw it being pulled to pieces and eaten.Could be a squirrel or a mouse.

The rains have begun. With each season comes something new!!
These hawks love the rains.
i also saw a few more new spots. I heard the killdeers!! Really sweet.,
