Termites are a group of eusocial insects that, until recently, were classified at the taxonomic rank of order Isoptera, but are now accepted as the infraorder Isoptera, of the cockroach order Blattodea.

Those termites were about to build a termite mound. There were just three holes in the ground, about 10cm deep, and a wall of a few centimeters of soil around them.

Hej there Lauren! Unf. I will not be able to shoot this termite construction again. But I will keep my eyes open for some other ones! I was told recently that there is a fungi growing on the termite mounds during March, and that fungi should taste like chicken! I have to see that one :)
Nice pictures! Are you close enough to get a finished mound picture? That would be really neat to see!
