Sand-sifting starfish (Αστερίας)

Astropecten aranciacus

Description:

A Sand-sifting starfish, spotted sitting in the sand, after a windy night with choppy seas, at Soutrali beach, near Agria village, Pagasitikos gulf, Greece. The species is one of the commonest starfish species in Greek waters, and it was still alive, so after the pics it was thrown back in the sea.
