Hylocomium splendens
Commonly known as Glittering Wood-moss, Stair-step Moss and Mountain Fern Moss. My favorite name for it is Stair-step Moss, it really forms stair steps :)
In the forest.
Very common. (My lovely insects are not active now in winter, so I'm collecting everything else that I see :) And mosses are very easy to spot, especially in this weird winter. Weird because usually in December everything is covered in snow.)

hehe, yes, that would be useful! :)
Good luck with that! ;)
Will do sis :) (if I can find all of my winter clothes) !
:)))
Wear gloves under mittens, so you don't have bare skin when you need to take off the mittens in order to take the photo :)
This is what I'm planning to do the next time, because without anything it really is too freezing :D
I am happy to accept the challenge, even if I know I will freeze my fingers off :) For the win!! hehe
Wonderful! :))
I think we all have used to your sunny and wonderful photos! :)) So now I encourage you to take a photo of something very, very wintery, too! :))
Yes :) I am trying to be happy about that... You motivate me at least :D
wow, then we both have a wonderful opportunity to enjoy winter and nature in winter!! :))
I am also in a frozen world right now. It is just to try to make the best of it :)
Thank you! :))
haha, now everything is covered in snow :D , but still some green things are sprouting out of it, so soon there will be very snowy photos :D :)
I like that you make something interestin of what you have growing there atm. That is the spirit! :)
It's very, very common here :)
and wikipedia says that it's a moss "with a widespread distribution in Northern Hemisphere boreal forests. It is commonly found in Europe, Russia, Alaska and Canada" ;)
and thank you! :)
I love H. splendens and had no idea it grew over in your area of the world! It form HUGE masses beneath the forests over here. Great photos of the micro too.
