A medium sized blood red or reddish yellow dragonfly. Male: Face is blood red. Eyes: Blood red above, purple on the sides. Thorax: Blood red to bright orange. Legs: Reddish. Wings: Transparent base marked with rich amber. Wing spot: Dark brown. Abdomen: Blood red. This dragonfly perches on aquatic weeds.
