Auriparus flaviceps
The Verdin has a dull gray body and upper parts with a yellow head and throat, and pale gray underparts. Its feathers have a coarse looking texture, compared with other birds. The wings of this little bird are gray with a chestnut color on the shoulders at the bend of the wing (not always seen). You will find that the Verdin’s short bill is sharply pointed and black, along with its legs and feet. It also has a dark eye line. The males and the females look similar.
Planted bed between hotel and I-10 in Tucson.
