Ichneumon Wasp

Pimpla marginella

Description:

This wasp has blue/gray eyes, red thorax and legs, a white and black striped abdomen, and iridescent wings.

Habitat:

Seen spending its time on the ground mostly in a suburban back yard.

Notes:

According to Bugguide, the range for this species is Southern Florida, but Orlando is in Central Florida and there are also photos on there of them in Jacksonville. I am guessing it is just not an often photographed species and the range isn't very accurate.
