Description:

About 15 millimeters in body length, colored as shown. Note bright green eyes.

Habitat:

This pair was courting and mating on a blooming saltcedar tree (Tamarix sp.) in a vast open field of degraded shortgrass prairie with sunflower, yucca, prickly-pear cacti, and scattered elm trees.

Notes:

There are several species of Tachytes in Colorado.
