Pacific Giant Salamander

Dicamptodon tenebrosus

Description:

Big, darkly mottled, aquatic salamander

Habitat:

Clear, permanent to semi-permanent streams

Notes:

I found this awesome guy in a hillside stream under a waterfall. Fortunately, logging operations have not polluted and ruined this little guy's stream. Truly an amazing experience to see one of these in the wild.
