A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Hippopotamus amphibius
The hippopotamus is the third largest land mammal in the world. Though it looks cute and adorable, it is considered one of the deadliest animals in Africa and an estimated 3,000 people are killed every year due to hippo encounter. Although hippos are herbivores, they are highly territorial and aggressive towards intruders. To safely witness hippos in their natural habitat in the wild you may visit one of Tanzania’s national parks and conservation areas particularly Serengeti, Lake Manyara, or Ngorongoro.

hi Jinki Afrika, these are incredible photos of this hippopotamus. Thanks for sharing and welcome back to Project Noah!
Hey Jinki Afrika - great spotting and great shots! This spotting (and other similar spottings from your collection) would be a great addition to two African missions, and I would like to invite you to check them out. First one is "African Mammals in the Wild" (here is the link: https://www.projectnoah.org/missions/138... and the second one is East African Biodiversity (https://www.projectnoah.org/missions/402...) Looking forward seeing your contributions there, and helping us to push African missions further. Cheers
