Southern Flying squirrel

Glaucomys volans

Description:

Southern flying squirrel

Habitat:

Trees

Notes:

We found about 30 of these little guys in our shed. After contacting nc game warden we found they are southern not northern flying squirrels. We would sit outside just before dusk and quietly wait for them to become active. Sure enough shortly after dusk you could see them soar from tree to tree. A true awesome event to watch. They were extremely quiet.
