Description:

Thapsia villosa ia a herbaceous perennial, growing up to 100 cm high. The inflorescences are large, regularly distributed umbels and yellow coloured. The seeds have four wings, and are the main characteristic of the genus.

Habitat:

It is distributed in the Mediterranean, on the Spanish peninsula, and North Africa. Spotted in mediterranean forest of pine trees and Holm oaks.

Notes:

The chemical compound thapsigargin has been isolated from Thapsia garganica.A synthetic prodrug of thapsigargin called "G-202" is in preliminary clinical trials for cancer treatment. Camera Model: NIKON D300. Exposure Time: 1/60 sec. f/32 ISO Speed Rating: 200. Focal Length: 90.0 mm. Flash fired.
