Aethia pygmaea
The cute Whiskered Auklet is a tiny seabird in the Alcid family (puffins, guillemots etc). It is one of the more range restricted species in the family but can occur in massive numbers as we experienced at Yankicha Island, a volcanic caldera making up part of the Kurils Islands of the Russian Far East.

Beautiful bird and pictures; the white stripes of feathers is both impressive and delightful and seems to be quite unique...Do both female and males have it? Greetings
