Darkling Beetle

Description:

This scarab/beetle is about 1" long. My daughter spotted it on our Avocado tree. We did see another hanging out on some hibiscus leaves.

Habitat:

Tropical dry forest in NW Costa Rica 7 weeks into the rainy season

we may call them Tree Darklings - they largely live arboreal. Long legs with large claws are adapted for climbing.
