Eastern Black Swallowtail and Eastern Tiger Swallowtail

Papilio polyxenes and Papilio glaucus

Description:

This spotting includes two different species of swallowails. The darker butterfly in the left side of the photo is an Eastern Black Swallowtail (Papilio polyxenes). The yellowish butterfly on the right side of the photo is the Eastern Tiger Swallowtail (Papilio glaucus).

Habitat:

These swallowtails were getting minerals from a damp area of the trail around the constructed wetlands at Phinizy Swamp Nature Park near Augusta (Richmond County), GA.
