Italian agile frog

Rana latastei

Description:

This was the first Italian agile frog (and the only one so far) I ever sppoted! We found it during a biology camp. These frogs are endemic to the plains of northern Italy, the extreme southern tip of Switzerland, the Istrian region of Slovenia, and adjacent Croatia. I rarely go to that part of Slovenia so I was very happy to finaly see it in the wild.

Habitat:

It was found in low waters of Vipava river in the forest.

Notes:

It has been categorised as vulnerable species by IUCN.
