Trilobite Beetle

Platerodrilus ruficollis

Description:

This is a female trilobite beetle, which gets its name from its resemblance to the extinct fossil arthophods, the trilobites. On the other hand, the male beetle resembles the typical net-winged beetle (family Lycidae). Apparently, the female beetle stays in the larva form throughout its live.

Habitat:

Rainforest.
