This is the male mallard and is about 24" in size with an iridescent green head, yellow bill, chestnut breast and a white neck ring. The female is a brown-streaked duck.
The mallard is a familiar duck of lakes and ponds. This mallard was spotted in a pond at Kinder Farm Park in Millersville, Maryland.
