Yellow-striped Army Worm

Spodoptera ornithogalli

Description:

The larvae are a dull yellow to gray with stripes running down the length of the body.

Habitat:

This had joined the hornworms and was eating my tomato plant. Oddly there was only one of them, so the Texas Spiny Lizard was doing a good job.

Notes:

Its name is derived from its feeding habits. They will eat everything in an area and once the food supply is exhausted the entire "army" will move to the next available food source.

If you want it away from your tomato, you could raise it, and feed it some weeds or something, to keep it from destroying your tomato.
