Slash Pine Needles

Pinus elliotti

Description:

Needles dropped to ground from Slash Pine trees. They are somewhat clumped together, as seen in photo, rather than basically falling and creating flat layers year upon year. The reason is due to Ferol Pig/Hog activity from rooting/foraging underneath the trees in this particular area.

Habitat:

Observed in a County nature preserve obviously covered w/ Slash Pine trees.
